Standalone programs, tested on our own installations. They download as a single file and need no special permissions to start.
Windows · version 1.0
Vedi COM
Shows every COM port on the PC in real time: which ones are free, which are in use, by which program and which device. It never opens the ports, so it does not disturb connected boards and does not reset the Arduino.
- SystemWindows XP SP3 – 11
- Requirements.NET Framework 4.0
- Installationnone, single file
- ArchiveZIP · 214 KB
The ZIP contains VediCom.exe, an identical copy named VediCom-XP.exe (same program, with a name meant for Windows XP PCs) and LEGGIMI.txt with the full instructions.
What it shows
No more guessing which process owns a port
- Free and busy ports, with busy ones always listed first
- Name, PID and path of the program holding the port
- Device type, VID:PID and hardware ID
- One-second refresh, with pause, manual refresh and an “Only busy” filter
- Port details copied to the clipboard with one click, ready for support
With “Run as administrator” it also sees ports held by system services and other users. The program changes nothing: it only observes.
Windows · version 1.0
Vedi Porte
The network port supervisor: it shows every TCP and UDP port open on the PC in real time — which ones are listening, who they are talking to and which program holds them open. It never opens or closes anything: it only reads.
- SystemWindows 7 – 11
- Requirements.NET Framework 4.0
- Installationnone, single file
- ArchiveZIP · 64 KB
The ZIP contains vedi-porte.exe and LEGGIMI.txt with the full instructions, including reading from the command line with --dump.
What it shows
Who holds the port, and who it is talking to
- Listening ports and active connections, TCP and UDP, IPv4 and IPv6
- Name, PID, path, user and command line of the process, with the related Windows service
- The likely use of the port — HTTP, HTTPS, RDP, MySQL, MQTT and more — with non-standard ports flagged
- A read every half second, with pause, F5, an “Only listening” filter and search by port, process, state or user
- CSV export of the visible rows, details copied to the clipboard and the remote address resolved to a name
It needs no privileges to start: with “Restart as administrator” it also sees system services, and “End process” closes a program after a confirmation.
How to use it
From download to first launch
Neither program installs: they are single executables that start with a double click and do not write to the Windows registry.
- Download the ZIP The button on the card you need downloads the package with the program and its instructions.
- Extract the file Right-click the downloaded file → “Extract All”, or open the ZIP and drag the executable into the folder you prefer.
- Run the program Double-click VediCom.exe or vedi-porte.exe. Vedi COM opens in the centre of the monitor under the pointer and closes with Esc or the “Chiudi” button; Vedi Porte closes with the window’s X.
Both need .NET Framework 4.0 or newer: Windows 10 and 11 include it, while an updated Windows 7 normally reaches 4.8 through Windows Update. Vedi COM runs from Windows XP SP3, Vedi Porte from Windows 7; both work on 32- and 64-bit systems. The program interfaces are in Italian.
